The Council оf Ministers adopted the National Strategy of the Republic of Bulgaria for Equality, Inclusion and Participation of the Roma (2021-2030) and the National Action Plan for the period 2022-2023 (Council of Ministers' Decision 278 as of 5 May 2022)
Тhe Secretariat of the National Council for Cooperation on Ethnic and Integration Issues (NCCEII), has completed the implementation of the project "T.E.A.M.2 - Together wE Achieve More". The project was funded by the European Union’s Rights, Equality and Citizenship Programme (2014-2020) by the Secretariat of the NCCEII through the administration of the Council of Ministers.
On 12 March 2021, the Council of the European Union adopted a recommendation on Roma equality, inclusion and participation in all Member States. It replaces the December 2013 Council recommendation on effective Roma integration measures and has an expanded scope. This Recommendation builds on previous experience, and reviews and expands the measures to be taken.
The National Legal Aid Bureau published an announcement for the selection of Roma (community) mediators for the districts of Varna and Stara Zagora in implementation of the project "Improving access to justice for persons living below the poverty line with a special focus on women, children and the Roma community", which is funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism 2014-2021.
The European Commission has today adopted a new 10-year plan, including a proposal for a Council Recommendation, to support Roma in the EU. There are seven key areas of focus: equality, inclusion, participation, education, employment, health, and housing.
The Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers adopted the Strategic Action Plan for Roma and Traveller Inclusion 2020-2025 to combat anti-Gypsyism and discrimination and to support equality.
